Sofas are becoming complex, variable and multifunctional furnishing units. In combination with structural elements and containers, sofas become a self-contained island and establish a strong focus in the living room area.

B&B ITALIA

Arne, designed by Antonio Citterio is a project that intends to respond to people’s needs and current living habits. Sofa and container elements can be set out in numerous angular or linear configurations, even in limited spaces. Shelving elements, rotating on a pivot, will follow the position of the curved sofa back.

KARTELL

The Trix seating system, designed by Piero Lissoni results from extensive research into the application of technical fabrics as well as the dynamics and the required multifunctionality of upholstered furniture. The result is a system based on three differently sized cushions, which will adapt to specific needs when they are either placed one on top of the other or secured one beside the other. Accordingly the seat can transform from a pouf into a chaise-longue with a side-table or into a bed.

CASSINA

A new domestic flavour is suggested by the Aspen line of sofas created by Jean Marie Massaud. Both the small (width: 180 cm) and the large (width: 260 cm) models are based on the idea of a single, upholstered unit, which flows in a smooth transition from seat to back.

VITRA

Associating their design to the main concerns of domestic and social life, the brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have designed their Late Sofa as an ideal place for relaxing, enjoying distractions, socializing and working. A complex, multifunctional structure which can be enhanced by lighting, trays and consoles.

DRIADE

Refined and intelligent experimentation by the Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka has led to the forward-looking design of this small series of upholstered seats, entirely covered in pleated leather, which is more commonly used in high-fashion.
